Verb–Compounds as Suffixes

Previously, we learned “来” and “去” suffixed to motion verbs – 上,下,出,进,回,过. These verb-compounds, together with one other – 起来 (to get up) can themselves be suffixed to certain verbs as well, to indicate direction. Remember that there is no such word as “起去” in Chinese.

When the verb is followed by an object, the object is often placed at the very beginning of the sentence.
