Prepositions 替 tì、 对 duì、 帮 bāng、 用 yòng

Besides and , there are some other prepositions that are often used in Chinese, like 替 对 帮 用.

1. 替 has the meaning of “to do something for somebody” or “to take place of somebody”.

(请) 你 取一下 快递 吧。

Please take the delivery for me.

(néng) tì zhàogù yíhuì’r tā ma?
(能) 替 照顾 一会儿他 吗?

Can you take care of him for a while for me?

2.对 about/to

A B Verb Phrase
bàba duì hěn guānxīn.
爸爸 很 关心。

Dad cares very much about me.

duì tālǎopo shuō “wǒàinǐ”.
他老婆 说 “我爱你”。

He said to his wife: "I love you".

3. 帮 to help somebody

(máfán) nǐ bāng ná yíxià xínglǐ.
(麻烦) 你 拿 一下 行李。

Can you help me with my luggage?

qīgè xiǎo’ǎirén bāng báixuěgōngzhǔ zhǎodào wángzǐ.
七个 小矮人 白雪公主 找到 王子。

The Seven Dwarfs helped Snow White to find the prince.

4. 用with/using/by something

yòng shǒujī fā yóujiàn.
手机 发 邮件。

He sends e-mails by cell phone.

wǒ (xiǎng) yòng suǒyǒude qián mǎi yíliàng chē.
我 (想) 所有的 钱 买 一辆 车。

I want to buy a car with all my money.
